Basavanagudi (with Gandhi Bazaar)
Locality
Bengaluru Urban district
Karnataka
One of the oldest planned extensions of south Bengaluru, immediately adjoining V. V. Puram. Its commercial spine is DVG Road, 'home to numerous retail businesses - several of them dating back to the 1920s and 1930s', with Gandhi Bazaar at its centre, 'known mainly for its flower and condiment hawker shops' and for 'fruit, vegetable and cloth stores'. NEGATIVE FINDING, recorded deliberately: no source consulted ties Basavanagudi or Gandhi Bazaar specifically to the Arya Vysya / Komati community, and no Vasavi or Kanyaka Parameshwari institution was found within Basavanagudi itself. The community-named cluster is next door in V. V. Puram. Treat any claim of an Arya Vysya Gandhi Bazaar as unverified.
