Historic trading quarter of the inner city between Abids and Koti. Developed in colonial times as part of the Residency Bazaars; was under British control and handed to the Nizam on 14 June 1933; named after a local nawab, Syed Sultanuddin. A shopping centre mainly for women's clothes and silverware, with more than 100 textile and fashion shops. Landmarks: Government Boys High School (established 1866 as the Chudderghat Anglo Vernacular School, on land donated by the Nizam) and the Sultan Bazaar Clock Tower (1865).
